About
Waiheke Central Marine grew out of the decade spent by Vern Smith servicing all types of boats, but mainly Sealegs amphibious boats, on Waiheke Island and on occasions, elsewhere in the gulf. Waiheke is believed to have the greatest concentration of amphibious boats in world and Vern developed a wealth of knowledge on these craft.
In early 2020 Vern went into a partnership with others and Mark Swann joined to grow the business. Harry Mavius has joined in 2021 and new staff are planned for 2022. Towards the end of 2022 the plan is to move into premises in Ostend which is the central business hub for Waiheke Island. Hence the name Waiheke Central Marine.
The goal of the business is to provide a comprehensive service for ALL boats on Waiheke Island and neighbouring islands. While amphibious craft such as Sealegs and more recent Smuggler and others keep the team busy, we are now also servicing moored and trailed boats.
In addition to the usual maintenance and servicing work, Waiheke Central Marine will also be launching various innovative products and services which should be welcomed by Waiheke boat owners.
